Here are a couple of very useful hints for combing and brushing your long hair.

1. After shampooing your hair (of course you will have used a conditioner) use a wide toothed comb to comb and untangle your hair. Most people start combing their hair at the front of their head. That is why they get stuck and have to pull their hair unnecessarily.

But there is an easier and better way to comb out your wet hair. Start at the ends first. The trick is to start at the ends and not near the scalp. Because the ends of your hair are the oldest part of your hair they are porous and much more tangled and are therefore harder to comb through. So the best and least painful strategy is to start combing your hair from the end.

Only work with one section of your hair at a time and pin up the rest. Comb through the ends and then it will be easy to comb through the rest of the hair .
2. The second hint concerns dry long hair. If you want to brush your long hair without any discomfort and without pulling your hair, I found that using a paddle brush like the one you see here is the best type of brush to use with long hair. This type of brush goes smoothly through your hair and feels so nice on your scalp.

If you like to brush your hair really well use this type of brush. Because of its rubber cushion, it also takes away any static. You can use it for any kind of hair but I think it is the most useful brush for long hair.

You probably can get this brush in most drug stores and some beauty salons.

How to best comb/brush your long hair

When you want to look different or feel more glamorous put your hair up. (If your hair is long). You will notice how your face looks more open. It shows your eyes more and I think when you look at these beautiful women’s faces wearing their hair up it makes them even more beautiful.

Funny thing is updos look like short hair and I always thought that short hair looked the most flattering on most women. This is just an observation of mine after styling hair for a long time.
